Really cool things happen during the winter in Minnkota’s service area, and it’s not all ice fishing and snowmobiling. Those things are cool, yes, but they’re not quite as cool as performing cold-weather testing on one of the most anticipated truck releases in the electric vehicle (EV) game.
Engineers with Rivian recently traveled north to Baudette, Minn., to perform some winter research on their R1T all-electric pickup, set to be released to the public later this year. The EV boasts 250-400 miles of range, all-wheel drive and a zero-to-60-mph time of three seconds (in some models). But the big question for folks around here is simple – how will it perform in 40-below temperatures?
Check out this story about the Rivian team’s experience at the Baudette’s unique cold-weather test facility, the largest of its kind in North America. (Spoiler alert: The results were great.)
